EXPERIENCE THE SKY!

Safety First

Your experience should be safe and fun so you can create memories that will last a lifetime. Because of this, we ask that you adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Riders should be at least 6 years of age, though there are no height requirements.
  • Dress comfortably as though you would for the day’s weather—especially in the summer—as it tends to be 5-10 degrees hotter in the balloon than the air temperature. Do not overdress.
  • Wear sneakers or hiking shoes for support. No sandals, heels, or open-toed shoes are allowed in the hot air balloon
  • We are unable to fly any passengers who are currently pregnant.
  • We never fly in stormy weather or rain. Flights can be rescheduled or refunded.

Additionally, all of our experienced pilots are FAA Commercially approved, drug tested, and share more than 10,000 hours of combined experience. We are dedicated to their profession and we pride ourselves on setting the standard in safety and passenger service.

Every passenger that flies with the Lancaster Balloon Rides is required to sign a release of reliability. Those under 18 are also required to have a parent or guardian co-sign their release. Releases are provided for you to complete at the field prior to your flight, but you can also preview or print the release form before you arrive.

Each flight lasts approximately 1 hour in the air and the total balloon ride experience is between 2 and 3 hours. Our crew will prepare for flight, launch, track, and meet us wherever we land, then return the balloon and all passengers to the launch site.
The best thing to wear is comfortable sportswear. It’s always 5 to 10 degrees warmer up in the balloon, so don’t overdress. Plan to wear sneakers or hiking shoes for support. No sandals, heels, or open-toed shoes are allowed in the hot air balloon. We also suggest wearing or bringing a hat.
Bring a camera of some sort (and be sure to check your memory space!). Leave purses and large bags on the ground or with the crew, where they will be securely stored for safekeeping.
No. There is no physical connection between the earth and the balloon such as there is in a tall building. This complete freedom seems to alleviate any apprehension or anxiety.
No. The balloon moves at the same speed as the wind, so there is no feeling of motion. The sensation of ballooning is the complete absence of sensation. “Tranquil,” “calm,” and “relaxing” are the words used most often by our passengers to describe ballooning.
The ground crew will meet us wherever we land and transport us back to the launch site for a celebration of your flight. Champagne, soda, water, and light snacks are served.
T-Shirts, sweatshirt hoodies, ball caps, and cloisonné pins are available to commemorate your hot air balloon flight.
Gratuities are not included in flight certificate pricing and should be extended to crew persons individually.
It’s wise to plan on hitting a restroom before you arrive at the Launch Site. Depending on the time of year, there may not be a restroom available.
