Handicap Accessible Rides

Everyone should get to experience the feeling of floating high above the ground in a hot air balloon. Lancaster Balloon Rides has wheelchair-accessible baskets so that wheelchair users (or those who are otherwise immobile) have the opportunity to experience life aloft in the clouds and fly in a hot air balloon.

Traditional hot air balloon baskets do not have a door that would make them accessible to those with mobility differences. With these baskets, passengers must climb over the side of the basket using footholds built into the side. These baskets may bar those with physical limitations from experiencing a hot air balloon ride.

Our new basket—also known as a gondola—has a door, giving wheelchair users the ability to wheel right in. Passengers who are handicapped, who use wheelchairs, or who lack full mobility can enjoy the thrill of a hot air balloon via our easy-access basket.
